Testing is performed by NutriPATH Pathology, which holds the same accreditation as Pathlab and Awanui Labs.
Your results are then analysed in the context of your full health history, with a minimum of three hours of dedicated clinical time given to your case alone.

GutIQ uses shotgun metagenomic sequencing to analyse your sample against a database of more than 28,000 microbial species, alongside functional markers of digestion, inflammation, short chain fatty acid production and gut barrier integrity. Testing is performed by NutriPATH Pathology, accredited through NATA, the same international standard held by Pathlab and Awanui Labs.
Your results are then analysed in the context of your full health history, with a minimum of three hours of dedicated clinical time given to your case alone. You receive two reports: an easy-to-understand interpretation of your results, and a six-month treatment roadmap.

Order your test kit through your prescription: $827.54 plus $9.20 standard freight (non-rural), paid in full at the time of ordering. Your kit includes full collection instructions and a courier bag to send your sample to the lab.

Most stool tests use PCR to look for a set list of organisms. GutIQ combines PCR with shotgun metagenomic sequencing, which reads all of the microbial DNA in your sample and compares it against a database of more than 28,000 species. It also reports microbiome diversity and richness, Blastocystis subtypes and antibiotic resistance genes, which standard PCR stool panels don't include.

Your reports are written to stand on their own. The interpretation explains what your results mean in plain language, and your treatment roadmap tells you exactly what to do, in what order, for the full six months. Microbiome Mapping is one-off by design, so it doesn't include follow-up appointments or ongoing support, and your supplement prescription link stays live for the duration of your plan. If you'd like ongoing care, I'd suggest working with a practitioner who can take you on as a regular client.

No. Microbiome Mapping is available anywhere in New Zealand. Your consultation is by phone, your kit and supplements are delivered to your home, and your reports are sent to you via email.

If you've recently had a gastrointestinal illness or taken antibiotics, it's recommended to wait 4 weeks before testing, so your results reflect your usual gut rather than a disrupted one.

Some supplements and medications can affect your results, which is why your welcome consultation happens before you collect. I'll go through exactly what applies to you. Never stop prescribed medication without talking to your doctor.

If the test is for someone aged 17 or under, please let me know when booking. NutriPATH has specific Paediatric Biome and Baby Biome tests designed for these age groups.

Your test prescription email includes a Nutriscript support number for anything kit, collection or shipping related.

No. This is functional testing and interpretation, and it doesn't replace your GP. If you have red flag symptoms such as blood in your stool, unexplained weight loss or severe pain, please see your GP first.

Before your welcome consultation. If you cancel before your welcome consultation and before ordering your test kit, your $350 is refunded in full.
After your welcome consultation. Once your consultation has taken place, the $350 is non-refundable. It covers my clinical time, including a minimum of three hours personally analysing your results and writing your reports.
Your test kit. Test kits are supplied and invoiced by Nutriscript and are non-refundable once opened. If your kit arrives faulty or damaged, it will be replaced free of charge. Contact the Nutriscript support number in your prescription email.
Your results. Your results are your results. The findings themselves are outside my control, and refunds are not available on the basis of what your test does or does not show.
Your reports. Once your interpretation report and treatment plan have been delivered, no refund is available. Each is written individually for you and cannot be returned.
Progress takes time. Microbiome change is gradual, particularly if you have been unwell for a long time. Your plan runs over six months for this reason, and improvement is often slow before it is obvious.
If something doesn't feel right. If you experience an adverse reaction, or your health deteriorates significantly after starting your plan, stop the supplements involved and contact me at paige@bayfunctionalhealth.com. If your symptoms are severe or worsening quickly, see your GP or call Healthline on 0800 611 116.
Your responsibility. You must disclose all diagnosed medical conditions, relevant blood work, family history and current medications, including prescription medicines, before starting any supplementation. Supplements can interact with medications, and recommendations made without this information may not be safe for you.
